TOEFL scores are valid for 24 months from the test date. We recognize that institutions have varying admission review timelines and believe that applicants should not be unfairly disadvantaged simply because your team hasn't had the chance to review their application yet.
To support your admissions process, TOEFL Access now keeps scores visible for 30 days after expiry provided the applicant submitted their scores to your institution while they were still valid.
How does it work
If an applicant sends their scores to your institution before the 24-month validity window closed, those scores will remain accessible in TOEFL Access for up to 30 days from the report date, even after the scores have expired.
Where a score is visible but expired, you will see the Score Expiration Date pill highlighted in red in TOEFL Access including Applicant profile and Quick View. Expired scores that meet the review window will continue to be shown as Available to ensure fair and easy access.
IMPORTANT: This update does not change TOEFL's official 24-month score validity policy. Only scores that were submitted to your institution while valid are visible to support your admissions success.
Review Window for Score Verification
If you need to verify an expired score using Score Verification, TOEFL Access would display the score report for verification only if the applicant officially sent their scores to your institution within the 30-day review window.
