Discontinuation of Paper TOEFL Score Reports

Moving to digital TOEFL score delivery via TOEFL Access

Written by Jenny Geiler

What’s changing

Effective July 26, 2026, TOEFL® will discontinue paper score report delivery for institutions and test takers.

All TOEFL scores will continue to be delivered digitally through our secure electronic methods, providing faster, more secure, and more reliable access to official score information.

How institutions will receive scores moving forward

Institutions will continue to access TOEFL scores through TOEFL Access, TOEFL’s secure, no-cost digital platform.

With TOEFL Access, you can:

  • Receive scores quickly and securely

  • Manage all score data in one place

  • View speaking and writing samples

  • Verify scores without interruption

Getting started with TOEFL Access

If your institution already has a DI (Designated Institution) code

If your institution does NOT have a DI code

To receive TOEFL scores, your institution must apply to become a score user.

What to expect:

  • The review process typically takes 2–3 business days

  • If approved, you will receive email instructions with login details for TOEFL Access

What this means for you

  • No action is needed if you are already using TOEFL Access

  • If you currently rely on paper score reports, you’ll need to transition to TOEFL Access before July 26, 2026

  • This change ensures a more efficient, secure, and sustainable score reporting process for all partners
